Nkosuohenmaa grants GH¢6,000.00 scholarship to two students in KEEA

Accra, Aug. 09, GNA – Nana Efua Kyerewaa Ansah II, the Nkosuohemaa of Atonkwa, in the Komenda-Edena-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA)Municipality of the Central Region, has granted scholarship worth GH¢6,000.00 to two brilliant but needy students in the community.

The three-year educational support was to give strong financial backing to the students to purchase items needed to further their education at the Senior High school to encourage others to take their studies seriously.

The two outstanding students, Ms Mary Pearl Appiah and Master Ebo Jackson were offered the scholarship during the maiden graduation ceremony for the form three graduates of St. Anthony Catholic Basic and Junior High School at Atonkwa in the Central Region.

The Nkosuohenmaa who doubles as the President of the Central Region Association of Ghana Association of Africans Americans of Ghana (CRAAAG) said she was inspired to support the promotion of quality education, to bridge the growing poverty gap in the community she had adopted as her hometown.

Nana Kyerewaa, an African American, pledged her continued support to the community and the School and pleaded with parents to exhibit high sense of responsibility on issues that concerned the well-being of their children and wards.

She advised students to imbibe strong moral principles such as hard work, honesty and respect for authority.

They should uphold a high sense of discipline and not allow friends to influence them negatively to derail them from their future ambitions, but strive for excellence in their academic pursuit.

As the president of CRAAAG, she encouraged Africans in the Diaspora to return home and invest their resources towards the development of their localities.

They should take advantage of the opportunities offered them coupled with the peace, stability and law and order in the country, and form the right business synergy to support Government’s drive to emancipate the economy and return the country to the path of growth and stability.

Nana Kodwo Eduakwa V, Chief of Atonkwa, thanked the Nkosuohenmaa, for her unflinching support for development in the predominantly farming community.

He called on other residents of the area who have the financial muscle as well as corporate entities to come to the aid of the community.

Nana Eduakwa encouraged the students to draw inspirational and motivational lessons from dignified indigenes of the area and endeavour to achieve higher academic laurels.

He told the students not to let down their parents’ investments in their education but eschew all forms of social vices, which were inimical to their aspirations and goals as future leaders.

One of beneficiaries, Ms Mary Pearl Appiah, praised the philanthropist for her relentless efforts to give unrivalled attention to education in the community and beyond.

Madam Stella Boafo, Headmistress of the School, also thanked Nana Kyerewaa, for taking the pupils on educational trips and building an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre for the school.

Awards were given to deserving pupils and the teachers.
