Assomada, Sep 18 (Inforpress) – The Government is not concerned with the date for the delivery of the rehabilitation works of the Church of Santa Catarina, and the former Concentration Camp in Tarrafal, in the countryside of Santiago, but rather to guarantee the their quality.
The statement is made by the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, in statements to the press, after having visited the rehabilitation works of these religious and historical heritage, accompanied by the president of the Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC), Jair Fernandes, having, however, appointed late December and early January 2021 as the “maximum date” for the delivery of these two works.
“The two works we visited today are structural and are also what the Government wants to made in terms of heritage housing, both in Santa Catarina and Tarrafal. We will do the works with quality, because the legacy will have to be for the next decades, why not for the next centuries. And for that, we may be running after dates do not benefit from quality work”, he noted.
Regarding the work at the Church of Nha Santa Catarina, he said that it will be a kind of “new church”, despite having maintained the main nave and architectural features.
