Ogun govt. spent over N9bn on road construction in 3 months, says PS

Abeokuta, April 15, 2019 (NAN) – The Ogun Government on Monday said that it spent N 9.348 billion between January and March on the construction and rehabilitation of some roads across its three senatorial districts.

The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Mr Kayode Ademolake, said this.

It was when he was presenting the budget performance of the ministry before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation at the Assembly complex in Abeokuta, South West Nigeria..

The House committee has Mr Victor Fasanya as its chairman.

Ademolake said the ministry was working on: the Sagamu-Benin Express Junction/Oba Erinwole Junction Road, which was at 95 per cent completion.

Other are: the Ilo-Awela Road that was at 75 per cent completion, OGTV-Brewery Road at 75 per cent completion and the Ejinrin-Oluwalogbon Road at 90 per cent completion.

He said that construction works on the Ojere-Adatan Road had reached 86 per cent completion and the construction of the Abule Ekun River Bridge had reached 90 per cent completion.

Ademolake also said that the construction of the pedestrian bridges at Mowe, Ibafo and Panseke were 90 per cent completion.

The permanent secretary also reviewing the budget performance of the Ministry during the period stated that the Ministry raked in N312.5 million.

He noted that the revenue was generated from contractor registration fees, fire safety certificate fees, inspection fees, telecoms/Infrastructural services as well as Vehicle Inspection penal fees.

He added that the construction of additional secretariat building (Block E) was ongoing within the state secretariat.

The permanent secretary said that the Ministry equally established a material testing laboratory through the Public Private Partnership agreement.

He said that it also constructed befitting modern markets, residential buildings and shops in line with the urban renewal programme of the state government.
