Juapong (VR), Aug 12, GNA- Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has donated an ambulance and hospital consumables to the District to mark his 38th birthday.
The items, including wheelchairs estimated at GHC 100, 000 are expected to serve the people of Dorfor, Volo, Fodzoku and Torgorme communities.
Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa said the ambulance, the first in the District, would help to avoid deaths in the communities.
He said the gesture was in honour of his campaign promise to ensure development in all the traditional areas in his constituency and appealed to government to send doctors to the communities as they had only one doctor on rotation.
Dr Momodou Chan, Resident Doctor, Comboni Hospital, who rotated among health centres in the four traditional areas, said ambulance service was a much awaited necessity in the communities.
He said it was disheartening losing lives especially, pregnant women when all that was needed to prevent such incidents was an ambulance.
Torgbui Ananse Titriku XII, Paramount Chief, Dorfor Traditional Area, applauded the Member of Parliament for his immense contributions to the constituency, especially in the health sector and recounted similar donations the MP made, when he presented an incubator, theatre beds and other consumables to the Battor Hospital last year.
He appealed for an ambulance for health centres in Battor and Mepe.
