Praia, Jan 14 (Inforpress) – The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Santos, said that despite being an atypical year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to many restrictions, 2020 was of intense parliamentary work and a lot of legislative production.
The assessment was made this Monday by Jorge Santos before the President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, in the presentation of the usual New Year greentings to the Head of State.
“It was a year of countless legislative initiatives, not only by the executive workbranch, the government, but also initiatives by honorable members and parliamentary groups. A year that started with the pandemic, and the Assembly soon had to adapt to the new circumstances,” he said, referring to the physical distance and the limitation of attendance at plenary meetings, commissions and hearings.
Jorge Santos stressed that thanks to the reform underway in parliament, in the last four years, it was possible to quickly respond to this challenge of putting new technologies at the service of democracy.
