Praia, Oct 15 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, today classified the poet Armenio Vieira as an “example” and “source of inspiration” so that the younger ones have the ambition to look for new things, have creativity and inventiveness.
Jorge Carlos Fonseca made these statements to Inforpress, moments before the ceremony in tribute to the poet Armenio Vieira, which took place in the conference room of the University of Cabo Verde, in the city of Praia.
“It’s a tribute. Armenio Vieira is a great name of Cabo Verdean literature, is one of the greatest poets of the country, a monument of Cabo Verdean literature and the world”, he said.
The President of the Republic also said that the fact the honoree was 80 years old was a pretext to pay “tribute”, a kind of gratitude of the country to one of its “highest dignitaries”, in this case for its literary production, aesthetics, poetics of great value.
