“Thepractiseofprivate media in Cabo Verde isalmostanimpossibility, becausethemarketisverysmalland more supportisneededifwewant a more qualifieddemocracy, improve public debate andgreaterintellectualandspiritualvigour,” hesaid, stressingtheneed to work for a “fullabsenceofgovernmentalinterference” ofpublic bodies.
ThePresidentoftheRepublic, whoadvocates a “greateropennessandautonomy” fromthepublic agencies in relation to theGovernment, becauseheconsidersthatthey are “belonging” to all Cabo Verdeansandmeans for “more pluralism, democracyandfreedom” in the country, alsopointed out theneed for a “friendlylegislativeframework” for thedevelopmentoftheprivate sector.
