Accra July 13, GNA- An Accra High Court has granted the Attorney General’s request praying it to appoint the Registrar of Companies as the official liquidator of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The court further granted an interlocutory injunction application filed by the Attorney General (AG) to restrain the GFA and its assigns to embark on any official work.

The order therefore gives the Registrar of Companies the green light to manage the associations’ assets pending the determination the substantive matter relating to liquidation.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Samuel K. Asiedu held that there were no contentions over the issued raised by the AG.

Last month the state filed an application for injunction against the GFA and its officials from carrying out work for on behalf of the association and same were granted by the court.

Following the expiration of the 10 day injunction the AG proceeded to court with another injunction application.

Two months ago, an expose by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas exposed some officials over alleged bribery.

The revelation compelled government to take steps to dissolve the GFA. The move by government led to the GFA to responding to matters raised concerning its dissolution.

The Attorney General contended that the Association in its current state was not fit for the purpose for which it was established.

The AG further held that the GFA was being used for illegal purposes and government ought to protect the interest of the public.
