Rincão community has a glass recycling project

Praia, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The Rincão fishing community has a sustainable glass recycling project that will contribute to preserving the environment and help families in the community, the vice-president of ECOCV told Inforpress.
Edita Magilevicinte explained that the project is implemented by the Cabo Verdean Ecotourism Association (ECOCV) in partnership with the University of Cabo Verde and other partners and is part of the Raiz Azul project that aims to promote the sustainable use and conservation of marine and coastal resources in the country.
The ECOCV leader said that the project, called “Eco Center for Glass Recycling in Porto Rincão”, is in an experimental phase and intends to make the sustainable management of household waste in the community and is being managed by six members of the community, three of them are men and three women.
According to her the glass recycling machine is already in operation, the responsible have already been trained and, at this moment, they are already producing sand that will be subjected to tests and analyzes before its use.
