Praia, Dec 10 (Inforpress) – The mayor of Santa Cruz, Carlos Silva, acknowledged Sunday the contribution of the immigrant community in the development process of that municipality in the countryside of Santiago, in various areas.
Speaking to Inforpress, moments before the “social gathering” between the foreign communities residing in Santa Cruz, during the fourth edition of the Municipal Immigrant Day, the Mayor assured that these communities are “well received and welcomed” in this municipality.
“The immigrant community has made a major contribution to the development process of Santa Cruz and we are witnessing this, especially the Guinean community that in the 1990s created the first private school in the county”, acknowledged Mayor of Santa Cruz and invited the immigrants to increasingly join the City Hall so that together they can continue to develop this municipality.
According to the municipality’s database, there are several communities in Santa Cruz, most notably the Brazilian, Chinese, Ivorian, Guinean (most expressive), Nigerian, Sao Tome and Senegalese, which according to the Mayor contribute “greatly” to the development process of Santa Cruz in various areas, from education, commerce, to construction, at the regional level.
