Accra, May 23, GNA- The Stanford Seed Transformation Network (STN) Ghana Chapter has awarded full scholarships to three Ghanaian students to pursue higher education.
The awardees are Ms Nayila Faisal Ologo, University of Ghana, Mr Mark Akavor, Ho Technical University and Mr Theophilus Kuwornu, University of Professional Studies, Accra.
Mrs Linda Yaa Ampah, President of STN Ghana, speaking at the launch of the Network’s updated version of business directory said the support was under SSTN’s community impact initiative.
The beneficiaries will have their school fees, accommodation fees and other related costs paid in full by the Network until they complete their studies.
The scholarship scheme was launched last year to help students requiring support pursue tertiary level education. It will be expanded across other various Universities in Ghana over the coming years.
She said the Ghana Chapter of the Network since its inception has lived by its mission of transitioning local companies into international players, walking alongside member companies through the journey of transformation, and paving the way for others to follow.
She said in the spirit of its mission, « we have continuously rolled out programmes and initiatives that were growth propellers for its member companies.
They include workshops, conferences, leadership labs, and other Networking activities which have also benefited companies outside of the Network.
The President said these programmes helped to enhance the business environment in Ghana and beyond and contribute to several of the SDGs.
She said the Network’s top priority was the growth of its member companies and creating the necessary exposure.
« This necessitated the publication of a directory that profiles our members and their businesses, » she added.
The directory seeks to give further exposure to its member companies within the Stanford Seed global community, Ghanaian business community and the global business community at large.
Mrs Ampah said the updated business directory would enable individuals and businesses to access
a vast catalogue of member companies spread over 16 sectors of the economy.
“We recognize the importance of making information readily available to members and the Ghanaian business community without any limitation. The directory allows users to access the contact details of the members of the Network,” she added.
She encouraged its members, collaborators, and partners to take advantage of the immense opportunities that come from the directory and open their doors wider for partnerships and investments.
Mrs Ampah said in line with its vision to become catalysts for global impact and contribute to sustainable development goals, they had nstituted a
mentorship and internship programme to raise the next generation of equipped leaders and entrepreneurs.
« Over 600 young people benefited from this programme in the first year so far, » she said.
Reverend Sammy Adjepong, the Chair of the Scholarship Committee, said the scholarship fund was to promote the educational aspirations of young and brilliant students at the tertiary level.
Reverend Adjepong reaffirmed the Network’s commitment to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of life-long learning opportunities in line with the SDGs 4.
He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunities presented and focus on their studies to reach their full potential.
“With this scholarship, I will have a sound mind to study for a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource & Psychology to achieve my dream of becoming one of Ghana’s best Human Resource professionals, » Ms Ologo said.
She said this was a great opportunity to become a good and useful citizen in the future.
