State of the Nation: JPAI considers the situation of young people “serious” and “dramatic”

Praia, Jul 31 (Inforpress) – JPAI considered the state of the nation in matters of youth is “serious” and “dramatic”, considering that 52.5% of the population of young people in society works in the informal sector and does not benefit from social protection.
The finding was made Wednesday by the Youth of the African Party of Independence of Cabo Verde (JPAI), Fidel Cardoso de Pina, this morning, in Praia, during a press conference, about the debate of the last State of the Nation of this legislature, scheduled for Friday, July 31st.
For the president of JPAI, the COVID-19 pandemic has further complicated the situation of most young people before the outbreak of the epidemic and the promise made by the MpD government (ruling party) is far from being fulfilled.
According to him, youth continues to be particularly affected by unemployment, and this trend is proof of the fallacy of political propaganda that the MPD and its Government had found the magic formula for unemployment within the population of young educated people.
Fidel Cardoso de Pina says that the bulk of the youth job offer consists of precarious, seasonal, unskilled, informal jobs, with low wages and poor social protection.
