Accra, September 18, GNA – The ongoing re-grassing on the football pitch of the Accra Sports Stadium, has seen steady progress, as the contractors, Green Grass Technology (GGT) are bent on meeting the deadline, ahead of the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), to be hosted by Ghana.
A visit to the venue by the GNA Sports, reveals that, the pitch is gradually taking shape, as the green patches are taking over the dried yellow patches on the field.
The pitch, which is expected to be ready for the competition, fixed for November 17 to December 1, 2018, according to GGT, would last for five years after it has been fixed.
According to the workers, the grass would take about six to eight weeks, to reach required standard for the competition, adding that the grass is already four weeks old, but has seen much progress.
According to the workers, the progress so far was an indication that, they would meet the deadline for completion.
Other improvements seen at the venue, were the replacement of new LED flood lights and the score board, which were at the finishing point
In addition, the discoloured chairs were being sprayed whiles those broken were yet to be replaced.
