The Effutu Traditional Council has suspension of this year’s Aboakyer Festival of the Effutu Traditional Area with immediate effect.
It called on all residents of Effutuman to rigorously follow the directives given by the government on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) without hesitation.
“Let us all contribute our quota and support this national effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our areas and Ghana as a whole,” it stated.
This was contained in a statement issued in Winneba and signed by Neenyi Ghartey VII, Effutu Omanhen and copied to the Ghana News Agency.
The statement announced the suspension of this year’s Aboakyer Festival of the Effutu Traditional Area.
It encouraged all to adhere to protocols put in place both nationally and internationally to combat the ongoing Global Coronavirus crisis.
According to the Council, the lives of the people were of paramount importance and reaffirmed that it values the survival, the safety and healthcare of the citizenry.
The epidemic, it noted, was potentially destructive to the society and it was prudent all joined hands with the government in the fight against it.
“Let us all concentrate on the simple principles which include avoiding roaming unless otherwise crucial, staying away from the social gathering of all nature, and also washing our hands with soap under running water, using hand sanitizer when there is no running water and soap”.
It urged all to protect and save their lives and also to ensure that they visited the nearest health centres if they experienced any symptoms as described by medical experts.
“We love you all and wish each of you free COVID-19 in our traditional area and Ghana as a whole and may the Almighty God guard and save us all,” The statement added.
