Tangoba pledges unity in Navrongo Central Constituency

Navrongo (U/E), June 21, GNA – Newly elected Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency in the Upper East Region, Madam Tangoba Abayage, has reiterated her pledge to unite the party in the constituency to maintain their seat in Parliament.
“I stand here to make that solemn pledge that I have made everywhere I have gone, that my purpose for annexing this seat is to unite the New Patriotic Party in the Navrongo Central Constituency, it is a solid big party.”
Madam Abayage, who is the Upper East Regional Minister and former Ambassador to Italy, said this when she delivered her victory speech after polling 307 votes out of 573 valid votes cast to beat Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area and Minister of Aviation who polled 266 votes.
She is the first female Upper East Regional Minister, and also the first woman to contest and win the Navrongo Central Constituency primaries of the NPP, and would face Mr Sampson Tangombu Chiragia, the Parliamentary Aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December general elections.
“If we surmount our differences, which we can, we will win the Navrongo Central Constituency with a landslide on December 7 for the President.”
Madam Abayage, who is affectionately called the “Lioness,” said “We are going to lead a campaign that has never been felt in this Constituency in a long time, I am the Lioness, we are going to hunt and bring the goodies home.”
Mr Anthony Namoo, the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, said the Region was grateful to the Navrongo Central Constituency, “It is a Constituency that was penciled among the three constituencies in the region, to be hot, but it has proven to be the intellectual hub of the Northern part of Ghana.”
He said the election was conducted peacefully, “You used your brains to get to where we are. We are very grateful to you for projecting the image of the Party positively to the whole world, we hope that you are going to keep that momentum from now onwards till December 7th”, he said, referring to the constituency.
Mr Namoo urged supporters of Madam Abayage to celebrate in moderation saying it was an in-house contest, “There is no winner and there is no loser. We are all one, our common opponent is the NDC and so we hope that we will all comport ourselves and bring on board our brothers who contested us, so that together as a team, we will be able to wrestle the seat.”
Mr Namoo congratulated the Parliamentary candidate saying the NPP government has done “So much for Navrongo that the people of Navrongo are going to vote massively for us. Let’s campaign with decorum because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
