Universal Merchant Bank engages tertiary students


Accra, Oct 6, GNA – Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), in partnership with Lenovo Ghana, Surfline and Phoenix Insurance Ghana Ltd, has engaged students in tertiary institutions at the second UMB Student Seminar.

The event, which was on the theme: « Transforming Ghana, The Role of the Tertiary Student » brought participants from the University of Ghana, the University of Professionals Studies, and Ghana Technology University College.

This was in a statement issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

It quoted Mr. John Awuah, the Managing Director of UMB, as saying that Ghana’s future depended on the caliber of people who will be taking up leadership roles in the near future and it was important to let tertiary students understand their roles in shaping the future of the country.

Mr. Jeffrey Odame Yeboah, the Head of Personal Banking of UMB, was also quoted as saying that the bank planned to engage with participants and other students beyond the seminar and had created a Facebook community for tertiary students to aid in discussing topics that were relevant to young people in Ghana.

It said three students went home with one smartphone each from Lenovo for actively engaging with UMB on social media. The prizes were presented by John Dumelo ace Ghanaian actor and entrepreneur who was a guest at the event.

All participants also received souvenirs from UMB, Lenovo, Surfline and Phoenix Insurance.
