MONROVIA, October 25 (LINA) – The West African Health Organization (WAHO) has convened a two-day meeting of health communication experts in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.
Liberia, represented by the Director of Communication at the Ministry of Health, Sorbor George, is chairing the two-day meeting.
The meeting was meant to allow Health Communication Officers in WAHO member countries to set up a Network of Health Communication Specialists.
If established, the network will, among other things, boost the flow of information on WAHO in countries’ intervention.
The meeting is a follow up to one held in Burkina Faso last year by Communication Officers to lay a foundation for the improvement of media coverage of WAHO programs and activities.
Speaking earlier during the official opening, WAHO Director General, Dr. Xavier Crespin, expressed delight for the gathering, saying it demonstrates the commitment and willingness of Communication Officers to work with WAHO to achieve its objectives.
The WAHO Director General reminded the participants that communication is a significant tool, promising his organization’s commitment to support whatever network that will be set up.
He thanked member countries and partners for their support to WAHO and hoped for more support.
