Satellites Coach not happy with Wednesday’s fixture against Senegal

Accra, Feb. 06 GNA – Jimmy Cobblah, head coach of the national U-20 male football team coach, has expressed worry over their Group B second fixture against Senegal on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in the ongoing Confederation of African Football Youth Championship in Maradi, Niger.

According to the satellites coach, in competitions of such nature the organizers should know that teams need at least 48 hours of rest, to recoup and possibly nurse bruises and injuries.

« I had said this at our press conference that the organizers are not being fair to Ghana, because teams would need rest, at least two days to regroup and rehearse for their next match.

« But it isn’t the case, this our format of playing was given to us long before the start of the tournament, where would have to play again on Wednesday, but here we are with only Tuesday for us to rest and train as well for ».

Ghana beat Burkina Faso by 2:0 on Monday, in a game that was to be played on Sunday but was rescheduled to Monday due to floodlights failure as Senegal also beat Mali on Sunday by 2:0 in the Group B opener.

With Senegal playing on Sunday, they have had two clear days of rest, unlike Ghana but Coach Cobblah is upbeat Ghana can beat Senegal come Wednesday February 6 at Maradi to be played at 15:30 hours to book a place in the next round of the competition.
