Commey commends Bukom Fist of Fury boxing league

Accra, Feb. 17, GNA – Newly crowned International Boxing Federation (IBF) Lightweight champion, Richard Commey, has commended the planners and organisers of the Bukom Fist of Fury Boxing League for the initiative.

Commey, however advised participating boxers to grab the opportunity to sharpen their fighting skills and be well prepared for future assignments.

Speaking to the media at the Osu Manste’s Palace, where the eighth week of the league, he said, he never had the opportunity of fighting in an exciting, interesting and well organized league, hence the need for boxers to make maximum use of the opportunity.

« This programme is very good and would keep our boxers in form to be ready at any time, and give off good fights whenever they are called, » he said

Commey said, though his status has changed, he remains humble and disciplined and urged upcoming boxers to emulate him.

He was full of praise for his manager, Mike Amoo-Bediako and hinted that Streetwise Boxing Promotion was hunting for young boxers who are capable of becoming world champions.

According to Commey, Ghana was blessed with many boxing talents and they must be helped to break the chains of poverty in the ghettos and slums.
