In an interview with GNA Sports, he said they had enough quality enough quality to replace any injured player in the team, after booking qualification into the knock-out stage of the 2019 African cup of nations (AFCON).

According to Gyan, there were many young and talented quality players, who have proven themselves and can be counted on at any given time.

“Coach Kwesi Appiah selected 23 quality players for this tournament, because we know about how things could work out concerning injuries.

“So any player called upon would give out his best, we have young ones who played today and they contributed a lot and we won, we all know injuries are part of what we do, so when it comes we deal with it.

“The injured players would be taken care off, though we don’t know how long it’s going to keep them but we all know it is part of our job and we need to stay focused and keep fighting to win for Ghana,” he concluded.

It would be recalled that prior to the tournament defender Musa Nuhu was granted permission to travel back to his club after picking up an injury at the team’s training camp at Dubai, which ruled him out of the tournament as winger Christian Atsu has also been ruled out of the rest of the tournament after picking a hamstring injury just 15 minutes into Ghana goalless draw against Cameroon.

With Jonathan Mensah and Thomas Agyapong picking various degrees of injury that forced them out in Ghana’s final Group F match, coach Kwesi Appiah had to call on Joseph Aidoo to partner John Boye at the heart of defense, as Ghana went on to secure a 1\16th qualification meeting against Tunisia on July 8, at Ismailia.
