Angola at UNESCO General Conference

Luanda, 18 Nov (Angop) – Angola is attending the 40th Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), scheduled for 18-23 this month in Paris (France).

The country is represented by a delegation headed by the minister of Culture, Maria da Piedade de Jesus.

 

The event will discuss the central place of culture in public policy in the world and its impact on sustainable development.

More than 140 ministers and senior representatives are attending the event.

On the sidelines of the forum, Maria da Piedade de Jesus will meet with UNESCO to take stock of the 1st edition of the Luanda Biennial- Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace, held in September this year in the Angolan capital, Luanda.

 

The Angolan ministerial delegation is made up of the national director of Museums Ziva Domingos, national coordinator of the 1st edition of the Luanda Biennial, director-general of the National Archives of Angola Alexandra Aparício, director of the Institutional Communication and Press Office Marlene Gomes, among other senior staff of the Ministry of Culture.
