CSOs donate to vulnerable groups in Kumasi

Kumasi, April 30 GNA-The Civil Society Platform on Sustainable Development Goals, in collaboration with CSO COVID-19 Response Fund, have donated food items and drinks to some vulnerable groups in Kumasi.
The items included; bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, boxes of soap, sachets of drinking water and vitamin supplements.
The beneficiary groups were, Dakodwom aged group, Bokro aged group, Church of Christ widows group at Ahinsan, some mental homes in Kumasi, selected persons with disabilities and HIV, street children and orphans.
Mr Kwaku Asante, Lead Coordinator of the distribution of the items in the Ashanti region, said CSO COVID-19 Response Fund, was intended to coordinate actions of all civil society organizations in response to the fight against COVID-19.
It is also to leverage on the strength of their numbers to impact positively and address some of inequalities that might occur in the fight against the virus.
Mr Asante said members on the platform, which included; the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition, West Africa Civil Society Institute, STAR Ghana Foundation, SEND Ghana and Ghana Agricultural Workers Union, were committed to creating opportunities for all.
He said similar donations were made to vulnerable groups in the Greater Accra region.
Madam Aba Oppong, Child Activist, who received the items on behalf of the orphanages, said the items would help the identified vulnerable groups and called on other organizations and individuals to emulate the gesture.
