SMEs in Hohoe register for Government’s stimulus package

Hohoe (V/R), May 26, GNA – Business owners and entrepreneurs in Hohoe in the Volta region are registering for government’s stimulus package for Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs).

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on May 19, 2020, launched a GH¢600 million stimulus package to support MSMEs under the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP) Business Support Scheme (CAP BuSS) to provide relief to SMEs in both public and private sectors.

Ghana News Agency (GNA)’s visit to the Hohoe Business Advisory Centre on Tuesday saw about 20 business owners registering for the stimulus package.

Mr Makafui Hodanu, Hohoe Municipal Manager, National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) told the GNA that most business owners and entrepreneurs had registered online for the stimulus package.

He said the Centre was helping business owners who were facing challenges in registering online, adding that “since the launch, a lot of people have registered. Only 12 of them so far had challenges with login details and we also help them with the creation of email addresses for those who do not have.”

Madam Irene Bisam, a seamstress said the stimulus package was a good initiative and would help revive businesses that were affected by COVID-19 and hopeful the package would come in time.

Mr. Francis Atsu Aborgah, Chairman of the Hohoe Carpenters Union said although he had no idea about the content of the stimulus package, it was commendable because many businesses needed cushioning to survive during and after the pandemic.
