Queen mother supports COVID-19 fight with PPE

Sefwi-Asafo(WN), May 30, GNA-Nana Ataa Ampomah II  Queen mother of Sefwi-Asafo in the Waiwso Traditional area,  has presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth GHC10,000 to selected institutions and identified groups in the community to fight the COVID–19 Pandemic.
The beneficiary institutions are St John of God hospital, Sefwi-Asafo branch of the Asawinso Rural Bank, College of Health, and Sefwi-Asafo Police station.

Others are taxi drivers as well as Okada riders and unit committee members.

The items include 5000 nose masks,1500 pieces of hand sanitizers, and a quantity of liquid soap.

presenting the items, Nana Ampomah II, said COVID-19 was real and encouraged individuals to protect themselves against the virus.

She advised parents to take very good care and monitor the movement of their children especially the younger ones so that they don’t contract the deadly virus.

Nana Ampomah II also advised Ghanaians to strictly adhere to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Ghana Health Service safety protocols such as the washing of hands regularly with soap under running water, wearing of nose masks, using alcohol-based hand sanitizer, observing physical and social distancing and avoiding overcrowded areas.

The queen mother appealed to individuals and corporate institutions to support the government in its fight against COVID-19  Pandemic since that would go a long way to defeat the pandemic.

Mr Solomon Afraku, Administrator of the College of Health who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary institutions, commended the queen mother for the gesture, indicating that the donation had come at the right time and promised to use them for the intended purpose.

He called on beneficiaries to endeavour to use them to protect themselves and others from the disease.

Mr Afraku appealed to individuals and non-governmental organizations to emulate the queen mother’s gesture and also donate towards fighting COVID-19.
