Central Bank Team Arrives Grand Gedeh County To Probe Fire Incident At Branch

ZWEDRU, Jan. 23 (LINA) – Following a fire that gutted the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Grand Gedeh County Office over the weekend, a team comprising security officer, fire investigators and officials of the bank have in the county from the CBL Headquarters in Monrovia, the Liberian capital.

The investigation will cover the level of damage caused by the fire, possible cause of the fire and total cash in the bank’s safe, among others.

However, the team disallowed every attempt made by the Liberia News Agency (LINA) to gather more information from it on the process.

It spoke through the compound’s security to ask all press out of the facilities during the process.

The CBL Grand Gedeh County branch was gutted by fire on Saturday, January 21, at about 12:00 hours leading to the total burning of the building and everything therein.

The only portion of the facilities that was not destroyed by the fire was the bank’s safe due to its protection by fire proof installations.

The burning of the building brings to two the number of public buildings that have been destroyed by fire.

The headquarters of the Liberia National Police in Grand Gedeh County was the first and now the Central Bank of Liberia Grand Gedeh County branch.
