Accra, Aug 6, GNA- A 12-member Board of Directors of Rotary Club of Accra West has been inducted into office to steer the activities of the organisation for the next one year.
The members of the board are; Henry Kom, President, Mr George Opare-Baidu, Vice President, Emmanuel Quarshie, Immediate Past President, Violet Anna Osei, President-Elect 2019/2020, Kwame Baah-Cheamfuor, Honorary Secretary, Veronica Mills-Lamptey, Honorary Treasurer and Moses Nii Okai Aryee, Director, Rotary Foundation.
The rest are; Neyeram Kukula, Director, Membership, Vivian Adu, Director, Club Administration, Tina Osei, Director, New Generation, Prince Ackuaku, Director, Service Projects, Eddie Larbi and Eric Mills-Lamptey.
The occasion, on the theme « Be the Inspiration » was also used to launch the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Rotary Club.
Mr Kom, the 50th President of the Rotary Club of Accra West, urged his colleagues to continue to serve the underprivileged and those in great need in society as done over the years.
He said social projects of the Club would continue to be the focus of its existence just as the other pillars of Rotary – friendship and welcome to every one without consideration for religion, politics, and ethnic bias.
Mr Kom said the Club had set for itself to rehabilitee the Osu Children’s Home playground, supply ICT equipment to the Alavanyo Senior High School, refurbish the maternity ward of the Larteh Health Centre and supply medical items to the Ga South Hospital.
« To enable us achieve all these goals, we will need all hands on deck so that in this way we can re-dedicate ourselves to our core values as Rotarians, » he said.
Mr Frank Brako Adu Jnr. the Managing Director, Cal Bank, charged Rotarians to be the inspiration for people to do the right things in society.
According to him, whiles inspiration was generally expected to have positive connotations, « inspiration can also have negative outcomes. So let us be careful what we inspire in people. Let us be careful what we do and let us be careful the examples we set. »
He charged the Rotarians to be inspired to work for society and the future generation as envisaged by founder of Rotary, Paul Harris and said Ghana was blessed with inspired, selfless and developmental leadership at all levels, but that inspired leadership, unfortunately, had not delivered the needed development to the Ghanaian citizenry.
Mr Adu Jnr charged the Rotarians to speak up to the ills in society to ensure an inspired leadership.
Rotary, a global body of 1.2 million members is founded on the values of community service by professionals with diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas for the common good of mankind.
