Lisbon – The secretary-general of the Angolan National Assembly, Pedro Agostinho de Neri, and his Portuguese counterpart, Albino Azevedo Soares, signed Tuesday in Lisbon an agreement to strengthen the Cooperation Protocol between the two bodies.

The Protocol is related to the formal framework for the establishment of a cooperation mechanism in the parliamentary field and for strengthening the institutional capacity of the respective parliamentary administrations.

According to Pedro de Neri, the Cooperation Programme focuses on parliamentary support, public relations, protocol and international relations, management of human, financial and property resources, as well as documentation, information, information technology, communication and image management.

He added that it will last for three years, with a final evaluation at the end of its term.

On his turn, Albino Azevedo Soares said that the current document was the third cooperation programme he had signed with the Angolan parliament, which he considered to be extremely important, due to the exchange of experiences between the institutions.

The official said he hoped the agreement would enable the staff of both institutions to be trained to acquire more knowledge and do their work better
