Health Ministry Plans Free DNA Test Across Liberia

MONROVIA, March 21 (LINA) – The Ministry of Health has disclosed plans to officially launch a free DNA Test exercise across the country.

The free DNA exercise is expected to commence on April 3 and end May 3, 2023.

Speaking in Monrovia recently, Health Minister Dr. Wilhemina Jallah called on Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity to clear their minds on who is the biological parents of their child or children.

The Liberian Health Minister also cautioned young girls to get involved in proper family planning so as to avoid unwanted pregnancy.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a polymer composed of two polynucleotide chains that coil around each other to form a double helix.

The polymer carries genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth and reproduction of all known organisms and many viruses.

It also contains molecule that encodes the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses.
