MONROVIA, May 14 (LINA) – The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) has refuted fake news widely circulated via social media denoting that the Minister Samuel D. Tweah has tendered in his resignation.
A statement issued by the Ministry on Sunday said it considers the act a matter of urgency to out rightly rebuff claims in the social media suggesting that Minister Tweah had tendered his resignation as Minister of Finance and Development Planning.
The MFDP release noted that Tweah, an outstanding public servant of national and international repute, continues to enjoy the confidence of the President George M. Weah as well as the country’s international partners.
It said Tweah remains fully committed to efficiently and meticulously executing the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development and continues to serve with utmost professionalism and integrity.
Liberia, like other nations around the world, continues to grapple with the proliferation of fake news on social media.
This situation most often gives rise to speculation among Liberians, particularly when amplified by the local media.
