Addis Ababa, 10/12/2022 (MAP) – The qualification of the Atlas Lions for the semi-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup is « historic and extraordinary », said the Transitional President, President of the Republic of Chad, General Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

« The qualification of the Atlas Lions for the semi-finals of the World Cup 2022 is that of all Africa, » wrote the Chadian President in a tweet.

The President of the Republic of Chad expressed his « full support to the representatives of Africa for the grand final ». « Africa champion of the world, yes it is possible inshallah, » added President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno.

The Atlas Lions’ winning goal was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri in the 42nd minute.

Thus, Morocco is the first African and Arab country to qualify for the semi-finals of the World Cup.
