Lisbon, Set 01 (Inforpress) – Gilson da Costa (Cabo Verde) and Catarina Rosa (Portugal) are the winners of the Lisbon-Mindelo Artistic Dance Exchange Program, promoted by Camões – Cooperation and Language Institute, I.P. and the City Hall of Lisbon (CML).
The announcement of the 2022 edition winners was made by the promoters of the program which will sponsor the Catarina Rosa’s residence, from October 1 to 31, 2022, in Mindelo, and Gilson da Costa, in Lisbon (Portugal).
According to promoters, the jury, consisting of Cláudia Sampaio (Portuguese Contemporary Ballet Company, guest), Neuza Polido (Camões, I.P.) and Susana Dias (CML), decided unanimously to select the work proposals of dancers and choreographers Catarina Rosa and Gilson da Costa. The justification is that, in the total of admitted applications, they are the ones that “best fit the logic of this artistic exchange program”.
According to the same source, the jury also highlighted the impact and benefits of these residences, as well as the meetings and experiences they provide to the winning candidates, in the development of their artistic career. Cabo Verdean Gilson da Costa, who will be in residence in Lisbon, is a dancer and performer, and the Portuguese Catarina Rosa, who will be in residence in the city of Mindelo, is a dancer and dance teacher since 2012, performing as Kenzi, her artistic name.
