Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Egypt attends inauguration ceremony of Egyptian University of Informatics (EIU)

Sierra Leonean Ambassador to Egypt, His Excellency Sadiq Silla attended the inaugural launch of the Egypt University of Informatics (EIU) organized by  The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) for ten (10) foreign ambassadors and members of the foreign diplomatic corps at Seminar Room Go3, EIU Campus in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday, 24 May 2022
Delivering a speech before the African ambassadors, Dr. Reem Bahgat, President of Egypt University of Informatics said EIU is a non-profit ICT-related specialized university established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the significance of the occasion was to acquaint the ambassadors with EIU’s Vision, objectives and study programs. Dr. Bahgat called on the foreign ambassadors who expressed great appreciation for the achievements they saw during the introductory tour – to convey the image of EIU Egypt to the capitals of their countries that the Egypt University of Informatics reflects part of the achievements that Egypt has made in education in recent years.
Ambassador Silla declared Sierra Leone’s support for the development of education in the African continent. He joined his counterparts to appeal  to the University administration to extend at least one scholarship to the attending countries which will serve as a motivation in the framework of the common African belief in education as the blueprint for developments.
Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat who delivered his keynote address via a video link said The University was established contingent on President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi decision in 2019 to establish the EUI, a private university based in Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital. He alleged that EUI is the first university in Africa and the Middle East specialized in communications and information technology and related fields. It is established with the goal of investing in the minds of the population which is achieved through delivering state of the art technology facilities for the drive across the spectrum of ICT-specialization to enable socio-economic development. ”Throughout history, Egypt has been the beacon of knowledge in Commerce, Science and Arts and providing competent skills for competitiveness and job creation in the global market” the Minister said. He thanked the Ambassadors for attending and promoting the academic cooperation with Egypt.

Dr. Amal Elgamml, Acting Head of Software Engineering Department, Head of International Relations Affairs before introducing the programs said, EIU offers specialized education at the highest level in different fields according to the different academic models. She went on to introduce the university’s full program and vividly described the four main faculties and what they offer. EUI has four faculties which offer  undergraduate and Dual Bachelor’s Degree with affiliated Universities in Minnesota, Purdue University West Lafayette USA in the following programs: Computing and Information Sciences (specialized faculty with a full focus on computer sciences); Engineering (technical and practical aspects); Business informatics (business administration and technology). Technology; and Digital Arts and Design (a scientific, creative, a research lighthouse in contemporary arts). The academic year is scheduled to start next June.
At the end of the program, the Ambassadors were taken on an introductory tour of the facility which included a visit to the aesthetic digital arts studio and lectures room, state-of-the-art games and sporting center, advanced technological training fields, the buildings and lecture room.
