Pusiga (UE), Sept. 15, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed three parliamentary candidates in the Upper East Region by popular acclamation.

The candidates are Alhaji Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, Chief Executive Officer of the Buffer Stock Company Limited who is contesting the Pusiga Constituency parliamentary seat; Mr Mathew Silas Amoah, a businessman who is contesting the Bolgatanga East Constituency seat; and Mr Thomas Alonsi, the Executive Director of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) for Builsa North parliamentary seat.

The decision to confirm the three candidates in popular acclamation came after the Regional Vetting Committee declared them the only candidates to contest for the above-mentioned parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the NPP after the close of nomination on August 10, 2023.

Alhaji Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba who addressed party supporters at the Gbewaa Training College at Pusiga called on NPP supporters to vote for him for speedy development of the area.

“We are a development-oriented party, and we are going into this election based on our achievements as a party, and government vis-a-vis what our opponent has done. We have 15 electoral areas in this constituency, and in every electoral area, we have performed more than the current Member of Parliament,” he stated.

Mr Mathew Silas Amoah who is vying for the Bolgatanga East seat thanked the constituents especially party members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to take the seat from the NDC.

“We are fully prepared, and from any angle the NDC wants to take us through, we are so much ready to match up with them because Bolga East Constituency needs change and I think with me, we can effect that change,” he stated.

Mr Thomas Alonsi was confident he would take the seat from the current MP, Mr James Agalga of the NDC.

“The people of the constituency are crying for a fresh representation in parliament,” he said.

Mr Anthony Namoo, the Upper East Regional NPP Chairman, said the party was confident of wrestle other seats from the NDC including Pusiga, Bolgatanga East, and Builsa North in the next general elections.

The Deputy National Organizer of the NPP, Joseph Kwayaja Nganiba, urged party members to support the candidates with prayers and logistics to mobilize the grassroots for victory in the next election.

The colorful acclamation ceremony was attended by Regional Executives of the NPP, former Regional Executives, Government Officials, Constituency executives, youth groups, and well-wishers of the candidates.
