Ghanaian peacekeepers organises health screening for South Sudan prisoners

Accra Sept. 12, GNA – A Civilian Military (CIMIC) delegation from the Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has organised a free health screening and medication exercise for 64 inmates of the Bentiu Prison in South Sudan.

The exercise led by the Senior Medical Officer, Flt Lt Maxwell Atindaana, screened the inmates, made up of 63 males and a female.

The screening exercise was conducted on a variety of health disorders including: Malaria, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) tests.

Brig Gen Yoanis Orlando, the Commander of the Prison was very grateful for the kind gesture from the team.

He said this was the first time a team of this kind has visited them.

The CIMIC team also donated assorted food items to the inmates of the prison.
