Accra, Nov. 25, GNA – The Volta River Authority (VRA) on Friday donated pieces of furniture to the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) to facilitate teaching and learning.

Mrs Getrude Koomson, the Head of Communication, VRA, said the donation was part of the Authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to improve education in the country.

She said VRA received a request from ATTC for support and, upon review based on the Authority’s CSR Policy, decided to support the Centre with resources for the furniture.

Mrs Koomson said the Authority recognised the importance of education and would continue to support initiatives to improve teaching and learning.

She said VRA would collaborate with the technical school for internship opportunities and other exchange programmes to advance the frontiers of education.

She urged the authorities to develop a maintenance culture and ensure that the furniture was well protected from destruction.

Mr Ernest Bediako Asare, the Principal of the Centre, thanked VRA for the gesture and appealed to other corporate bodies for support to improve their infrastructural needs.

He pledged assiduously to ensure that the furniture was used for its intended purposes without destruction.

Mr Ebenezer Oduro Boakye, the School Prefect, said the donation would address some of the furniture deficit at the Centre and called for more support from the public.
