Sefwi-Adabokrom community gets computer Lab

Sefwi- Adabokrom (W/N), March 9, GNA – The Adabokrom Circuit of the Ghana Education Service in the Western North Region is currently benefiting from a fully furnished computer laboratory connected to an internet facility.
It is expected that the refurbishment of the facility with 25 desk top computers by Member of Parliament for Bia East, Mr Richard Acheampong, would help improve teaching and learning of information and communication technology (ICT).
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the commissioning, Mr Acheampong said, this was in fulfilment of a request brought to him by the education directorate some years ago.
He said technology plays a vital role in education and pupils from the area deserved better that is why he took it upon himself to refurbish the computer laboratory in order for pupils to stay abreast with ICT developments.
The MP said he would continue in his efforts to improve upon education in the area adding that he has started sponsoring vacation classes for students, lobbying for more classroom blocks and has also handed over a six-unit teacher’s bungalow at Adabokrom the district capital.
He advised pupils in the area to take their studies seriously and called on school authorities to take good care of the facility in order to benefit generations unborn.
Mr Acheampong also called on the contractor working on the proposed community day senior high school to speed up work so that the school could admit its first batch of students next academic year.
In a related development, the MP presented 20 sewing machines to apprentice who have completed their training in the area.
Mr Bismark Yeboah, Adabokrom Circuit Supervisor, commended the Member of Parliament for the facility saying it would go a long way to improve upon the teaching of ICT in the area.
He said the lack of teachers is a major challenge facing the circuit since many teachers refuse postings to the area.
