Aliu Mahama Foundation presents start-up capital to women

Yendi (N/R), Sept 30, GNA – Aliu Mahama Foundation has presented an amount of GHC 12,000 to women groups at Yendi as start-up capital to enable them to establish as well as expand their business ventures to help alleviate poverty.
The beneficiary women were trained by the Aliu Mahama Foundation on shea butter processing, soap and pomade making to equip them with skills to earn a decent living and address poverty in rural communities.
Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, Development Advocate and son of former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who presented the funds to the beneficiary women at Yendi on Saturday, said it was to empower the beneficiaries to contribute to the development of society.
He emphasised that « My agenda for Yendi women is to alleviate poverty in the area and ensure that our mothers become useful in society and very vibrant in their businesses to among others ensure healthy homes. »
He called for unity in the area to accelerate development saying the Aliu Mahama Foundation would continue to support worthy initiatives to transform the lives of the people in the area and the country as a whole.
Aliu Mahama Foundation was established in memory of former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama to work to sustain his legacy of a disciplined society as well as empower people economically amongst others.
Alhaji Farouk Mahama extoled the virtues of the former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama saying the Foundation would continue to work to ensure that his legacy lived on.
The beneficiary women expressed gratitude to the Aliu Mahama Foundation for equipping them with self-employable skills and supporting them with start-up capital in the form of grants to start their own businesses.
