Awudome-Avenui launches ‘Entrepreneurship Conference’ project

Awudome-Avenui (V/R), July 6, GNA- The Chief and people of Awudome-Avenui, a farming community in the Ho West District of the Volta Region have launched a business project dubbed; Entrepreneurship Conference.

The project aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship by opening local business opportunities to investors through conferences and partnership engagements to create sustainable jobs.

It was launched at the second edition of Ngoryiza, a development festival celebrated by the chief and people of Awudome-Avenui to raise funds to carry out development activities in areas of health, education, water, and sanitation among others for the well-being of all.

Dr Martin Yamborigya, Head of Audit at Large Taxpayer Office of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), who launched the project described it as laudable and commended the chief and his council of elders for the initiative.

He said entrepreneurs played pivotal roles in building resilient communities and accelerating growth and charged the people to take advantage of the conference to improve on their business ideas and to expand their businesses.

Mr Yamborigya said there were lots of opportunities in the country, and urged the youth to be creative and innovative so they could take advantage of the opportunities to enhance their lots.

He said the world was changing and that looking up to the central government for jobs was a thing of the past as the number of graduates churned out by the various tertiary institutions far outweighed the available jobs.

Mr Yamborigya urged the council of elders and the entire members of the community to continue to give their unflinching support to Togbui Dzaga in his quest to open the area to investors and business opportunities for development.

Togbui Adzesi Dzaga VI, Dufiaga of Awudome-Avenui said the entrepreneurship conference would serve as a vehicle to explore business opportunities in the area and also to develop comprehensive mechanisms to harness them to accelerate growth.

He said the project would take effect from next year and would be under the theme; « Unraveling Local Business Opportunities for Growth.”

The Chief said the conference would also focus on providing local business entrepreneurs with business techniques and advice on how to carry out their businesses and also raise funds to support their businesses to flourish.

The Chief said his outfit was determined to bring the needed transformation and positive change to the community and its environs to reduce unemployment and rural-urban drift and called for support from all.

Mr Jackson Mawunyo Affram, Secretary of the Festival Planning Committee, said

Awudome-Avenui has a large arable land that could be used for commercial farming and other business activities and urged investors to come to the area to invest.

He said the area was also blessed with a lot of water bodies including Wutor, Basave, Tsiye, Dornu, Kade which were good for domestic and industrial use.

The festival dubbed; Prioritising Technical Education for Development  » coincided with the 4th anniversary of the installation of Togbui Dzaga as Chief of Awudome-Avenui.

It was used to raise funds to support the completion of the community’s Vocational Institute and was graced by chiefs and queens from other traditional areas, the clergy among others.
