Bong County Health Team Releases New Update On COVID-19

GBARNGA, June 28 (LINA) -The Bong County Health Team (BCHT) has released a new update on the Coronavirus with five deaths reported, and 24 positive cases of the new variant of the viris.

Speaking on a local radio station over the weekend, Bong County Health Team Administrator, Dr. Jonathan Flomo, indicated that 16 out of the 24 confirmed cases are in the treatment unit at the Phebe Referral Hospital in Suakoko District, while the others are being treated in « isolated homes ».

According to him, positive Coronavirus patients who are being treated at home are given equal keen attention, noting that they are visited and treated by the County Health Team on a daily basis.

The two new deaths have brought the total number of deaths from the virus in Bong County in recent times to five.

At the same time, Dr. Flomo has clarified that those that have died in the county from the virus are those who came to the treatment unit with severe cases. The victims, he said,, came from Suakoko and Yelekolleh Districts.

Meanwhile, Dr. Flomo has disclosed that several persons undergoing treatment at the treatment unit have escaped the hospital premises.

« Hundred percent, we will announce the names of all those people who escaped from the treatment unit if they refuse to report themselves to the treatment unit at Phebe, » Dr. Flomo said.

He described as « public health hazard » the re COVID-19 patient escapees who are refusing to report themselves to the County Health Team.

Dr. Flomo pointed out that despite the rapid testing at the Phebe Treatment Unit, the area has been overwhelmed by patients, saying “Those responding positively
