Pedra Badejo, Jul 15 (Inforpress) – The first rains this morning took many farmers to the field to start the first sowing, taking into account that they were waiting for rainfall to be able to throw the seeds on the ground.
However, Inforpress found that before the first rain of 2020, some peasants in the agricultural areas at the six municipalities in Santiago (Santa Catarina, São Salvador do Mundo, São Lourenço dos Órgãos, Santa Cruz, São Miguel and Tarrafal) the agricultural work had already begun in late June.
In a tour this Monday in Assomada, Santa Catarina, there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the field and looking for hoe and seeds, taking into account that this year the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) will not distribute seeds for free as in previous years.
If this rain is cause for joy for some, for others not so much, this is because they fear that it will spoil the seeds already on the ground. In Santa Cruz many heads of families went to buy seeds made available at a more affordable price by the MAA.
