Praia, Jul 21 (Inforpress) – Carlos Machado, Portuguese coach of the Académica do Mindelo, national champion football team, 2021-22 season, argues that “those who are coaches in Cabo Verde can train anywhere” and points out that he intends to make his mark in Cabo Verdean football.
“Académica do Mindelo is a big one here in Cabo Verde, indeed the reality of football is very different in terms of infrastructure and conditions, but what I say to my Portuguese friends: who is a coach here can train anywhere,” said Carlos Machado in an extensive interview with the Portuguese Zerozero sports newspaper.
During the interview, entitled “From the world of clothing to the title in Cabo Verde: Who is coach here, is anywhere”, published this Monday, the 18th, in the Portuguese electronic newspaper, Carlos Machado spoke about coming to the archipelago, with passage before by Spain, spoke on the state of Cabo Verdean football and how he reached the current national champion.
“I tried to professionalize the club a little. Even the mentality of the player, because here the players lack the professional mentality. At the technical and physical level they are very good players (…) also the tactical part needs to be worked on and who brings all this to Cabo Verdean football can succeed, and the results are in sight”, he said.
