Keta (VR), Feb 2, GNA- Reigning African Beach Soccer Club champions, Sunset Sports Keta are calling on benevolent individuals, groups and sports enthusiasts for support to enable them to participate in the world club tournament.

The Volta Region-based club has received notification of the 2022 Beach Soccer Worldwide World Winners Cup scheduled to take place in Fuerteventura, Spain in April.

But Chief Executive Officer of Sunset Sports Keta and Vice Chairman of the Ghana Beach Soccer Clubs Union, Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe in an interview with the GNA Sports said there was the need for support to the Club to ensure their participation in the world event.

He said it had been the club’s plans to play at the world winners cup after emerging champions at the African Beach Soccer Club tournament, Copa Lagos.

He asked for support from all to play on the world stage following their successes in Ghana and Africa stressing, their participation would depend on the support from Ghanaians.

Sponsorship is the only way we can get to participate in this big tournament because we need funds to prepare properly, buy tickets to the tournament and as well, take care of accommodation and feeding in Spain”.

Mr. Adjahoe noted that the club would not look on but work hard to secure sponsorship to participate in the tournament which would give them the opportunity to rub shoulders with clubs outside the continent and also get them on the FIFA world rankings.

“No organisation has offered to support but we’re in the process of sending out our proposals. We also made contacts with some prominent personalities to help us get to the corporate bodies.”

Sunset Sports Keta, Ghana’s most successful beach soccer club and three times winners of the Ghanaian championship in four seasons has Keta as their home ground.
