Gomoa East District Assembly confirms President’s nominee

Potsin (C/R), July 28, GNA – The Gomoa East District Assembly has elected Mr Solomon Darko Quarm as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
He was unanimously voted by the 16-member assembly, which gave him 100 per cent approval after being nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Mr Kwamena Duncan, the Central Regional Minister, urged the newly elected DCE to serve the people and not to lord himself over them.
He called on Mr Quarm to serve as agent of development to transform the living standards of the people by ensuring that the bad roads and dilapidated school structures are repaired while constructing health facilities.
Mr Duncan commended Mr Seth Boadi, the District Coordinating Director of the Assembly for his maturity, competency and sense of direction, which has brought about good governance in the area.
Mr Benjamin Roland Andoh, the Presiding Member, said the election of Mr Quarm would help accelerate the development of the newly created district.
Obrempong Yamfo Krampah, the Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area and the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs expressed gratitude to the members of the assembly for the approval of the President’s nominee.
He said Gomoa East, Central and West Districts needed massive socio-economic development such as: good roads, healthcare facilities, quality education, jobs and wealth creation to improve the living conditions of the people.
Obrempong Krampah urged the new DCE to be cautious of people who would push him to take actions that would not ensure the growth and peace in the district.
Obirifo Ahornako Ahor Ankobea II, the Omanhene of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area, said the election of the DCE would assist the Gomoa East District to get its fair share of the national cake.
Mr Quarm, the new DCE, thanked the members of the Assembly for their overwhelming endorsement of his appointment and the confidence reposed in him.
He said having worked in the district for the past 14 years gave him the opportunity to get acquainted with the problems in the district and called on the members to support him to solve the challenges.
He assured stakeholders of the area including chiefs and opinion leaders that he would serve them by helping to build a strong think-tank to move the district forward in education, health, roads, jobs and wealth creation for the growth of small-scale businesses to reduce poverty.
