MONROVIA, June 18 (LINA) – Authorities of the Liberia News Agency (LINA) have injected dynamism into the state-run news organ by
launching its new website with the domain name: www.linagov.org.

Director General Kwame O. Weeks on Monday described the new LINA online platform, launched at the weekend, as a « state-of-the-art and
user-friendly website » that will supply credible and timely news and information about Liberia on a regular/daily basis.

The Liberia News Agency is one of the central news collection and dissemination entity of the Liberian State, clothed with the mandate
to promote a viable, united and cohesive nation via stories that engender national development, peace and unity.

Speaking further in an interview, Mr Weeks recounted that when he took over as Director General early this year, he was informed by the
previous administrators of the website that some unscrupulous folks had tampered with LINA’s website and that there were also unresolved
issues to have it reinstated.

« Even if they could give it (previous domain) to us; they said they could not give the password, and then later we learned that we had a
little column on another website. Could you imagine that? » Weeks exclaimed.

Based on those circumstances, he noted, his leadership hired the expertise of professionals who then built and installed the new and
optimized website for LINA.

Weeks, a social media guru, also observed that « social media platforms play a vital role in what we do today because we recognize that close
to ninety percent (90%) of our current followers use different devices to get to us; therefore we have optimized our news website that it is
compatible with whatever device one prefers to use. »

By using its URL and allowing for the audience to subscribe by logging in, the website, as expected, will be interconnected with people on
the various social media.

Prior to the launch of www.linagov.org, Weeks said the Liberia News Agency had already taken over the social media as it gets thousands of
users liking and/or viewing daily news articles posted by the agency.

Weeks said his goal, among other things, is to set LINA apart that « once it comes from us our audiences and international partners would
know that it’s authentic, » referring to credible and developmental content.

He stressed the significance of the LINA online platform, saying that it will quickly enable people around the globe, including the Liberian
Diaspora, to access news and information about Liberia 24 hours daily.

The website’s features include News; Top News; Pro-poor Voices; Arts & Culture; Our Delicacy; Features; and Opinions, among others.

The Administration of LINA is currently refurbishing the agency to transform is physical feature into a world-class news and information
production house.

And with the coming into being of its new website, Weeks hopes LINA will lead the charge on the Liberian newsstands, taking its strength
from mainly rural Liberia as it advances the government’s Pro-poor Agenda.
