Military Officers must exhibit high leadership qualities-Commander
Accra Dec. 17, GNA- Brigadier General Charles Adu-Brempong, Commander, Ghana Military Academy, has advised the Cadet Officers Course 59 to be discipline and exhibit high leadership qualities in the pursuit of their duties.
« Your respective professions require total commitment, dedication, positive attitude and most importantly, selfless service at all times.
« Your unbridled loyalty to the State, Government and the Armed Forces must be unflinching and you must avoid acts that will bring the image of the Forces into disrepute, » he added.
He said this on Friday at the graduation ceremony of Cadet Officers who went through a six-month short Service Commission and Special Duties Course 59 in Accra.
Brig. Gen. Adu-Brenpong urged the Officers to refrain from any act either passively or actively that had the potential to undermine the security of the State or the authority of the Government.
He urged them to upgrade their knowledge to be abreast of contemporary issues and tap into the rich knowledge and experiences of their superiors and colleagues for professional development.
« Your training experiences at the Academy certainly revealed your strengths and weaknesses especially in the areas of interpersonal relationships and physical fitness. »
« You must constantly build on your strengths and work assiduously to overcome your weaknesses, » he said.
He urged them to relate well with all manner of persons no matter the circumstances and also continue training to maintain their fitness level as officers.
The Commander cautioned the Officers of lifestyles that would not only impede their career progression but also dent the image of the Forces including the wrongful use of the social media, fraudulent acts, conduct of unauthorised operations, wasteful expenditures and extravagant attitudes.
With the threat of trans-national crimes and terrorism in the sub-region, he urged them be alert and collectively combat those vices and avoid groups which ulterior motives and activities could undermine the peace and the integrity of the State.
« You must also do your utmost to contribute towards reduction in Global Warming by planting trees and curbing deforestation ».
Awards were presented to Officers who distinguished themselves at the end of the course.
Cadet Officer Alfred Tamu, from Liberia emerged the overall best Allied Cadet, Officer Joshua Harry-Ansah won the overall second-best Cadet Officer while Officer Vivienne Fosu Juo took the Commandant’s prize.
