Praia, Jan 31 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Justice, Joana Rosa, assured today in Praia that the Government has adopted a set of measures to strengthen the prevention and accountability of human trafficking.
The guarantee was given in the opening speech at the second meeting of the Working Group Meeting of the West African Network of Central Authorities and Prosecutors (WACAP), in the framework of Judicial Cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
Among these measures, the minister highlighted the strengthening of the legal and institutional framework, namely in terms of existing treaties and legal instruments, in promoting their effective application and in organizing reflection meetings within the scope of the prevention and criminal investigation of human trafficking.
In legal terms, she specified that in 2014 the country ratified the Additional Protocol on the Prevention, Suppression and Punishment of Trafficking in Persons, as well as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and a series of relevant conventions of the World Labor Organization (ILO).
