Mr Goosie Tanoh picks NDC presidential nomination form

  9 Décembre      52        Politique (25356),

Accra, Dec. 9, GNA – Mr Goosie Tanoh, a presidential candidate hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Saturday picked the nomination form to officially announce his participation in the Party’s upcoming primaries as nomination closes.

This comes after the intervention by the Party’s Council of Elders, which led to an extension of the deadline from December 4 to 8, 2018, for picking of forms.

This brings the number of presidential hopefuls to eight. They are Former President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Joshua Alabi, Mr Sylvester Mensah, Mr Alban Sumani Bagbin, Mr Stephen Atubiga, Mr Ekow Spio Garbrah, Mr Nurudeen Iddrissu and Mr Goosie Tanoh.

However, Mr Kojo Bonsu and Mr Elikplim Agbemava failed to pick their forms. They protested the filing fee of GH¢400,000.00 and had petitioned the Party’s Council of Elders to intervene.

The Council of Elders’ intervention successfully saw the reduction of filing fee to GH¢300,000.00, but maintained the nomination form fee at GH¢20,000.00.

The Council also pushed for the primaries to be held on January 26, instead of the initial January 19, 2019, to allow persons who could not pick forms more time to do so.

Mr Eric William, who led Mr Tanoh’s team, thanked the Party for giving the candidate the opportunity.

« The game has really started and this tells Party faithful that we are really in the race and we are serious about it. We believe that on the day of the election, things are going to favour us, » he said.

« Mr Tanoh is optimistic about his chances of leading the Party into the 2020 general election and we are asking all Party members to support us ».

Mr Peter Otukonu, a Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, took the delegation through the formalities and regulations on filling the forms.

He wished members of the team the best of luck and urged them to contact the National Executive when they had any difficulty with the process.
