BUCHANAN, April 24 (LINA )- The dedication of a US$48,000 Commissioner’s residence in Grand Bassa Electoral District #Two, was part of President George Manneh Weah’s activities during his tour of the county.
Though funding for the construction work came from the social development fund provided annually by Arcelor Mittal to the county, it was released through the National Government.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Project Management Committee Chairman, County Local Administration, County Legislative Caucus, as well as commissioners and traditional officials.
During the discussions in the county hall in Buchanan which was graced by women and elders as well as youths, President Weah assured the citizens that their request for the construction of a technical vocational training center, an ambulance, installation of solar lights, construction of a standard market building and loan for market women would be realized.
Addressing the audience in the presence of Chief Zarzar Karwor, the Head of the National Traditional Council, President Weah recommended that the appeal by the Commissioners for offices in their respective areas should be factored through the County Sitting Budget like he did along with his colleagues in Montserrado County while serving as Senator from 2015 to 2017 before ascending to the Presidency.
The Statutory Superintendent, Nancy Quita Green, Women Leader Madam Ceedy Freeman, Youth leader Christian Philips and a female student presented the District Platform to the Liberian Chief Executive whose operations are based the Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.
They also called for women empowerment, health facility improvement, as well as the construction of a laboratory and library.
The District lawmaker Mary Karwor joined her citizens to emphasize the need for the construction of bridges on their roads; underscoring the many decades of constraints encountered by the citizens due to the lack of pliable roads.
Apart from the development assurance given the people, President Weah provided Liberian dollars 2 million to the citizens of Glahkon Statutory District.
The Liberian leader made the donation and gave the assurance during his four-day visit to Grand Bassa County, as part of the third leg of his nationwide tour.
During the town hall discussions, President Weah admonished the people of Grand Bassa County to avoid listening to distractions from the opposition, and work along with the Government in the development drive of the country.
Representatives Mary Karwor, Vincent Willie, Matthew Fairplay Joe and Grand Bassa County Caucus Chairman Thomas Alexander Goshua, including Senator Jonathan L. Kaipay along with Members of the local county administration, collaborated with the Liberian leader during his tour of Grand Bassa County.
