Bechem (A/R), June 25, GNA – Reverend Frimpong Boadu, the Chairman of the Bechem Local Council of Churches, has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to maintain most of the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
He said most of the MMDCEs performed creditably hence the need for the President to reappoint them to continue with their good works in the interest of the country.
The Rev. Minister, however, entreated the government to sack those with bad records, whose performance made the government unpopular.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bechem in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region, Rev. Boadu noted the development of the country was on course, and there was the need for the government to maintain MMDCES, who distinguished themselves.
He lauded President Akufo-Addo for the introduction of the Free Senior High School Programme, saying it had greatly bridged the existing education gap between the rich and the poor.
Rev. Boadu, who is the Head Pastor of the Bechem Baptist Church, advised parents to complement the government’s efforts of ensuring the Ghanaian child’s access to quality education and endeavour to provide their children with basic educational needs to sustain their interest in school.
He also emphasised the need for the government to prioritise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by making that sector attractive for pupils and Junior High School students.
Rev Boadu noted because TVET was unattractive, many parents and guardians discouraged their children and wards from pursuing courses in those areas, which held the key to the nation’s industrialization agenda.
