President discusses cooperation with Burundian counterpart

Luanda, 24 September (ANGOP) – The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, Thursday in New York analysed with his Burundian counterpart, Evariste Ndayshimiye, the cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level debate of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and shortly after João Lourenço spoke at the multilateral forum, which began on the 21st of this month at the headquarters of the world organisation.

The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Angola, Teté António, and Burundi, Albert Shingiro, as well as the permanent representatives of the two countries to the United Nations, Maria de Jesus Ferreira and Zéphirin Maniratanga, respectively, among other senior officials.

The Angolan Head of State’s agenda on Thursday also included separate audiences with the Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Nayhan, and the head of the Ivorian diplomacy, Kandia Kamissokoko Camara.

João Lourenço also received Vera Songue, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

On Friday, the presidential schedule includes two audiences with the United States ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, and Prince Harry.

Friday’s schedule ends with an interview with the Wall Street newspaper.

The head of State leaves New York on Saturday for Madrid, Spain.
